FCC laws state that any re-broadcast from another broadcast station must be
done only with permission from the originating station. Therefore WJIB (LTAR)
could not broadcast WRKO 60's/70's etc airchecks. However, permission need
be gotten only from the CURRENT owners of WRKO, not all or some of the past
owner(s). When a station is sold, it's "goodwill" and property rights are
sold along with it. Regarding the internet, laws have not been formed yet
for such. It is unlikely that future internet laws will prohibit airchecks on
sites, but possible. With the USA's general anti-rules feelings, such laws
to prohibit may not happen, especially when the internet grew so fast, before
laws were (or will be) passed.
