NBC Radio had a practice (and may still, for all I know) of running a
special feed of its top-of-the-hour newscast at :54 to benefit
stations that wanted to run their local news at :00 or thereabouts, or
didn't want to run instrumentals or "fill songs" to meet a network
deadline. ABC feeds its "noontime" Paul Harvey broadcast earlier in
the day to give its affiliates similar scheduling flexibility.
Take care,
Chris, who was on Tom Hennessey's s**t list for missing a Paul Harvey
feed one day at WPOR :)
