Doubtful.... Even when webcasting gets bigger, and if the economy goes to
pot, and if AM's get to be more reasonably-priced, there are always
'innovators' with $$$$$ whowill buy such stations, and keep community
broadcasting from happening. Remember, there are so many new formats out there
now that never were there before: Kidsradio, self-improvement, business,
businees-opportunity-radio, etc etc. There will be more in the near future,
too. Since radio had "lowered its standards" in the 90's, that creates a
whole new rush of non-traditional entrepreneurial entities on the air,
therefore community radio would-be owners (with likely less funds) would be
pushed down the radio ladder, by such entrepreneurs with more funds to buy or
set up a station.
As much as we all seem to praise "Community radio", when it is tried, it
usually doesn't work, unfortunately. The USA population for the most part
cares only about two things: How much money can I make, and how often I can
get laid; neither which are components of community radio.-----
