WBZ NewsRadio Begins All-News Format on Weekends

Boston -- WBZ NewsRadio, the #1 rated radio station in
New England, debuts its all-news format on weekends.
Long the dominant news station on weekdays, WBZ
NewsRadio has expanded its news programming to
5:00AM-5:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. After 5:00PM,
the station will do hourly newscasts at the top of the hour.

Director of News and Programming for the station, Peter
Casey explained, "After examining the radio market in New
England, and receiving requests from listeners for more news,
we decided WBZ NewsRadio should be the place for weekend
news, "traffic on the threes," and weather every 10 minutes.
Since no other station in New England can deliver what WBZ
can with the resources of both radio and television news
operations, it just made good sense to be news all day, every
day, seven days a week.

Sports programming on the weekends will now include the
long-running "Calling All Sports" on Saturdays 5:00-8:00PM
and The Bob Lobel Show on Sundays from 5:00-8:00PM.
During the week the station will continue to broadcast NFL
football on Monday night and the Sunday night Game of the Week.

Weekend Sports Director Dan Roche and producer Pat Tangney
will continue to manage sports programming on the weekends
which will feature weekend afternoon sports updates and
broadcasts of the Boston Bruins hockey schedule.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030 is owned and operated by the CBS Corporation.
