What about WHUE (AM)? They tried an all-news format for awhile in the
early 1980s. I don't think it lasted a year. It relied heavily on CNN
news and repeated stories even more than WEEI did. I was hoping to see
them succeed because, by that time, WEEI had been sold, and I kept
suspecting that the new owners' political views might be coloring the news
reporting.
As I recall, they even said that their call letters stood for "We Help you
Understand Everything" -- or something like that.
