Something vaguely similar was done on public TV a few years ago with
NBC's coverage of the Kennedy assassination and the Apollo mission.
Probably the best place for such a rebroadcast would be CBS Eye On
People or Nostalgia Television.  The latter has been airing obscure
variety shows from the 50s through the 70s for the past few months
and they're an often-fascinating treasure trove of then-current
cultural and social references.
