Hi Dan & All:
Yes, CFCY-630 DOES protect Providence. I've been to the tower site of CFCY
(been to PEI 7 times since 1976, done lot of DXing up there.) and got a copy
of their engineering map form their C.E. Two lobes: one to west and other
to north-northeast. Very little going south, but is audible in daytime as
far south as Sussex, N.B. (which is still north of St John, NB).
CFCY-630, was for decades the dominant station in PEI. Nothing else ever
came close. CHTN (stands for CHarlotteTowN)-1190 then got their CP for 720,
and since then have been flipping the bird at CFCY since now CHTN has the
superior signal; which has created (CHTN's signal down the US coast) an
education for ignorant Americans who NOW know that there IS a place called
Prince Edward Island!!!! (actually DX'ers & radio people know of PEI. The
general population is still in the dark, and still being unable to find New
Jersey on a map!
