Actually, I think another factor why Boston could not sustain two country
stations has to do with the fact that there were (are) several strong and
established country signals already covering major parts of the Boston
listening area, including WOKQ, WCAV, and WCTK.  I think the Boston
stations probably had a hard time wooing loyal listeners away from these
