Greetings Everyone:
Had the strangest DX experience last Thursday night while coming home from
Bath, Maine to Boston. While in Maine, after sunset, NO clears from west or
north came in on the car radio, but Southwest and South came in exceptionally
strong. All NYC clears bombed right in, along with a loud & clear signal
from PJB-800 in Bonaire!!!! No trace of CKLW. Also no trace of Toronto
CBL-740, nor any trace of CKAC-730. Therefore WJTO's puny nighttime
flea-power was clearly audible 45 miles away, even south of Portland. WJTO's
night signal usually only goes 4 miles clearly, and sometimes poor within
sight of the tower!
Perhaps, to experienced DX'ers, this is not unusual, however, in my limited
DX'ing experience, this has never happened before, where there was such a
great difference depending upon DIRECTION.
