Re: What did the WMEX Calls stand for???



Contrary to apocryphal stories that came later, when William and Alfred Pote
applied (as the Northern Corporation), in 1933, after WLOE in Chelsea was
finally deleted by the FRC (soon to become the FCC), the call letters they
were given were WMEX, originally licensed to Chelsea.  The call letters did
not stand for anything as far as I know-- they were available and they were
assigned.
