Re: WBPS May Be 890 But It Imitates 990

C-Net dropped the feed to WBPS, apparently as part of a corporate
retrenchment, although the feed to KNEW Oakland-SF continues. (C-Net saves
the cost of a trans-continental leased ISDN line.) Mega then leased the
station to an outfit (from Chicago, I believe) that is feeding a bunch of
ultra-right-wing talkers (Dr Laura, Roy Masters, Neil Boortz, Rusy
Humphries, and Michael Savage). Doug Stephan, who is on from 4:00 AM to 8:00
AM, is the only host who is anywhere near middle of the road, and Stephan
never hides the fact that he is a Republican. David Lawrence's OnLine
tonight is still heard M-F but no longer on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
The last hour Mid-1:00 AM airs live followed by the network-fed repeat of
the whole show from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM. I think that most of the network
feeds on WBPS are tradeouts. At least some of the weekend fare sounds like
shows brokered to the network and fed to all takers.
