I would consider joining an io group as a successor to this listserv.

Most often there has been a spirit of helpfulness in providing information about history (radio, music, sports, Boston/New England news events), present-day station and personality activities, FCC and other legal matters, and technical advances.

Way back in the '70s I'd met Donna Halper at a WCAS live broadcast at a supermarket in Cambridge. Subsequently my wife and I had attended a couple of her presentations at local libraries. It was great to see Donna again. Dan Strassberg was there at Gary's. He and I had many discussions on the group about technical matters such as antenna efficiency, salt water enhancement of propagation, and so on. He had matters covered from the industry side and I from the DX hobbyist side (over 100 countries heard since 1960 on the standard AM broadcast band from metro-Boston and the Cape). When I later read of Dan's passing I considered that a big loss to radio, just as when we recently lost Bob Bittner. Speaking of Bob, I remember many discussions with him as well. He understood DXing and he had an inexhaustible memory bank of music knowledge. He kidded around with me about my attempts to get him to play my favorite singer, early '60s British teenage star Helen Shapiro. He did eventually put a few of her songs on the radio. The fact that she only had one Billboard entry in '61 held him back a bit.

A big benefit of them over either this platform or Facebook is the easy attachment of audio, video, photo, and document (PDF/DOC/PPT) files. If something is set up I'll enthusiastically join. I have a large stash of survey chart scans and airchecks that I could gradually post when suiting a discussion in progress.
> When this list started in 1997 I'd just started a great job at Analog Devices. Stayed there 13 years. I began there by programming racks of shiny new Rohde & Schwarz, Agilent, Tektronix, and Boonton test instruments and designing RF/microwave boards. "Tubthumping" (Chumbawumba) and "Bittersweet Symphony" (Verve) were blasting out of my car radio in afternoon drive. Sometimes after work I'd drive out to Granite Pier in Rockport, MA to DX the AM band out of my car. The online world then was quite a bit different from now, that's for sure. Seems like forever ago.
