Message-ID: Could a TV channel 6 moving to the Candleabra spell the end of a pirate? Posted on radiodiscussions: https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/might-b87-7-be-the-most-legit-mainstream-pirate-in-the-us.734909/post-6411858 The FCC has approved the move of the Ch 6 LPTV station W06DH, licensed to Westmoreland, NH - to the Cabot Street (aka Candelabra) tower in Needham at 1000 feet. This will affect B87.7, and anything else on 87.7 or 87.9. While the LPTV signal itself may not be overpowering, they will soon be interfering with a licensed station. I know that 'BZ had an extensive news department at the time and cooperated with the other Westinghouse stations in covering national and world news, but what about other independent stations? (I'm thinking specifically of WNAC and WHDH, but those are only two of many.) Were they entirely dependent on teletype and what actualities AP and UPI made available on occasions such as this? I was only twelve at the time, and I don't remember. He was last heard from Friday the 13th and found dead on Tuesday the 17th in his vehicle after going down an embankment in Chesterfield, MA. Brian wasn't a terribly nice guy and he sure didn't obey broadcast law.... but I can't celebrate his death or be happy about this. I worked for him.. it was 2 very long months, but while I will say anything written about him is true, I just can't be happy about this since i know the man face to face. Maybe I'm getting old and soft.
