I watch 2.2 (OTA) a fair amount.  It is definitely 16:9, but I guess
it isn't actually 1080i.  At the moment my handiest set says it
is 480i.  The picture is neither stretched nor chopped.

OK for Charlie Rose.  Maybe not so great for Nature.
