New England 1, a website that keeps track of comings and goings in New
England TV news operations, reports that WBZ-TV's Jack Williams will be
officially retiring from the station, this Thursday (6/25) being his last
day, ending a 40 year run on Channel 4. Last year Jack stepped down from the
anchor desk but continued to produce his "Wednesday's Child" segments,
appear on some special event coverage and occasionally fill in on the anchor
desk. Although not noted in the NE1 article, Jack also filled in as a talk
host "down the hall" on WBZ Radio, notably when the late David Brudnoy and
the late Paul Sullivan were going through their health battles.
