My previous note was mailed early by mistake; here's one more detail to add:

In this profile of city censor Richard Sinnott, he is quoted as saying
he didn't have the power to ban songs on the radio:

If that was the case in the 1950s also, a true "banned in Boston" label
for a song probably was not possible.
