Longtime WCVB and NECN news anchor Chet Curtis passed away last night at age 74 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Chet was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2013. His last public appearance was at the HOF induction ceremony in September. Despite being frail from the effects of his health issues and having to be helped to the podium, and his voice weakened, he made his acceptance speech. He received a prolonged (and well deserved IMHO) standing ovation while being assisted in his walk to the stage.
Channel 5 of course devoting much airtime to remembering Chet. Meanwhile, 4 & 7 led their 5:00 shows with Justin Bieber's arrest in Florida.
Channel 5's "Chronicle" at 7:30 tonight will be a special on the life and career of Chet Curtis.
