This morning Clear Channel began to simulcast WPOP 1410 (ESPN) Hartford on WPKX 97.9, now licensed to Windsor Locks. (They may be testing at half power). The station had run country, which moved last month to WRNX 100.9 Amherst. The move comes just a week before a N.Y. Giants/N.E. Patriots Super Bowl, with other events like the NHL
All Star Game also on deck. I presume that the 97.9 will carry Yankees games, etc. as WPOP does.

WPOP had been a pop music station years ago, and one DJ, known as Dale Denver, is heard these days under what I believe is his real name: WEEI's Mike Adams.

WPKX had been licensed to Enfield but now the COL is Windsor Locks (where much if not all of Bradley Field
 is located).
For a time, ESPN had an "experimental" station, WX4ESPN, at 98.1 on their Bristol CT "campus". That apparently has been shut down, I hear, as the 98.1 is definitely in the "new" contour of the 97.9 signal.

No word if 1410 will remain the same or change to a different format (talk? Premiere hosts?)
