Thanks for the observations, Aaron.

I remember how quickly state-run shortwave broadcasting has collapsed 
since the 1980s: electricity prices rose, recessions strained government 
budgets, the end of the Cold War seemed to reduce the need to 
communicate (?), and the rise of the Internet made a cheaper 
transmission medium available in the affluent countries.
