Rush Radio rebrands as Boston Talk 1200

Seems as though you are suggesting that CCU would give up the live
feed of Hannity so that they could run America's Morning News in AM
Drive? Is that what you are suggesting?

I know that WOR dropped Hannity because of low ratings (Hannity moved
to WNYM). And WPHT dropped both Hannity and Beck, apparently for the
same reason. But neither WOR nor WPHT is a CCU property. And while
Salem's 50-kW (D) WNYM picked up Hannity, Salem's 50-kW (D) WNTP did
not pick up either Hannity of Beck. In fact, isn't one of them
(Hannity or Beck) now on Alex Langer's little 1 kW daytimer, WFYL,
which is licensed to King of Prussia. The 20 or so miles between King
of Prussia and Center City Philadelphia is a long way for a 1-kW AM
signal on 1180 that emanates from a 94' Valcom whip to travel--and
arrive in listenable condition in a major-city downtown district--even
through the trip takes it through a region of fairly decent soil
conductivity.

I do, however, agree that in Boston, a station that calls itself Rush
Radio starts off with a big strike against it. Limbaugh may not have
lost his magic in most of America, but I don't think he ever had all
that much magic in Boston. Deprived of WRKO's killer AM signal or a
full-market FM signal, he and the station whose name and image are
built around his outlandishly right-wingnut views is going to get
so-so ratings at-best. CCU is to be commended for recognizing (albeit
belatedly) that one size doesn't fit all markets.

Subject: Rush Radio rebrands as Boston Talk 1200

New logo and identity for Rush Radio Boston, now Boston Talk 1200 or
just Talk 1200. They are apparently de-emphasizing the Rush radio
part; for now, no changes in programming but one wonders
if maybe they could poss. move Katz to afternoons and run Imus or
America's Morning news in am drive.
They have the domain name http://www.talk1200Boston.com (possibly not
working yet)
