Actually Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch do have some connection. Carroll Spinney, the man in the costumes, was also on Bozo doing all sorts of puppet characters. He left for Sesame Street just before Frank Avruch pulled the plug as Bozo (in a reaction to restrictions being put on children's programming) a year or 2 before WHDH finally lost the licence.
