I worked for a small 1KW station in NH that had full back up power (WEMJ).  
If I didn't live in a townhome complex with the association police I would get  
one. I don't know if I would opt for a diesel generator but the newer natural 
 gas units are really nice. The gas company installs and maintains them like 
a  water heater.
