Great post. I suspect the "anyone can do it" mind-set, although flawed, 
took hold. And purely driven by economics.  Most local (even some major 
market) talkers are hourly, no bennies, but, bless 'em all, hooked on 
the radio thing such that even a no-money deal would work for some. And, 
well, you get what you pay for.
