The Union Leader had a nice article on Christmas music radio in the
Granite State (with national statistics):

One interesting quote of note:

© Behind the holiday cheer and goodwill are strong ratings:
© Portland's WHOM sees a 38 percent bump in the number of
© listeners after it switches its format from adult
© contemporary to 24-7 holiday music.

As has been noted here (and other radio boards), there *is* a
legitimate business interest in such seasonal diversions.
There was a related article about Chanukah holiday radio (and
that only satellite radio is doing it), but that didn't seem to
make it online.

(BTW, the Sun's been acting up for the past week--with another
major proton storming flare this morning--so mw propagation may
appear "daytime dead" at times over the next several nights!)
