Just saw on WCVB's news that Boston Red Sox Spanish Radio Network
announcer J. P.Villaman was killed in a car accident early this morning in
Wilmington MA. He was 46. Villaman was on his way home from Logan Airport
after returning from New York where he called last night's Sox-Yankees game.
Villaman was one major league baseball's first Spanish language radio
broadcasters, announcing Sox games starting in 1995, when the Red Sox formed
the "Spanish Beisbol Network". WROL (950 Boston) is the current flagship
station, WCCM (1490 Haverhill) is one of the affiliates.
