The old WNAC-TV--Channel 7

Another Globe article says that Major Mudd got his start in TV on the Ernie 
Kovaks Show.  In a summary of his obit, it said that "...Edward McDonnell 
appeared for more than a decade as the bumbling, bungling spaceman on 
Boston's Channel 7 when it known as WNAC-TV. A graduate of Temple 
University, McDonnell came here from his native Philadelphia in 1961. He 
quickly gained a large audience among the area's younger set for his 
on-screen antics as well as the respect of local elders for his concern for 
children and for his fund-raising efforts on behalf of various community 
organizations. Beset in the 1970s by health problems (diabetes, kidney 
failure and blindness among them), McDonnell died in October 1979 at age 53..."
