The tale of the tape

On the heels of the sad news that 11 y.o. Carlie Brucia, abducted last Sunday,
had been found dead last night, it begs the questions as to why the networks
continue to replay the videotape of her abduction. Public opinion was surely
ignited by the tape which triggered strong interest in her safe discovery.

Are the networks solely about ratings? How much more beneficial would it be that
the networks pull together resources to produce a program aimed at children as a
lesson on safety? Put the tape into some sort of context that could actually
contribute to saving a life.
