WZBC 30th Anniversary
It's almost a shameless self-promotion, but Clea Simon wrote about it in
today's Globe so I guess it's okay :-)
BC station marks more than 30 years of independence
By Clea Simon, Globe Correspondent, 9/12/2003
This month, Boston College's student-run station, WZBC-FM (90.3), has
decided to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The planned festivities -- a
multiple-club party on Sept. 20 that will bring several bands to the Middle
East and T.T. the Bear's in Cambridge -- showcase the station's devotion to
independent rock. But neither this party nor the students who currently man
the boards for shows like ''No Commercial Potential'' reveal the whole story.

BTW - one thing Clea doesn't mention, because we're just making it public
now, is that we'll be broadcasting the show from the Middle East Downstairs
live as it happens that night. Clea also doesn't mention the "NCP show" on
Sept.19th. Details about this stuff & band lists are (and more will
appear) at www.zbconline.com
This isn't a benefit, btw...ticket sales are pretty much going to cover
costs of live broadcast, bands, and venue rental...no "profit" or anything.
I was at the WJUL "Raising Awareness Benefit" show on-campus at Fox Hall
last night. The bands were pretty good but I didn't hear anything in the
way of actually raising awareness about the Lowell Sun deal. I couldn't
stay past 9pm, though...maybe they talked about it later.
