Ibiquity Adopts new Audio Coder for IBOC
Columbia, MD, and Warren, NJ Aug 12, 2003 Ibiquity Digital has revised the
codec it will use for its IBOC digital radio system, which has been branded
HD Radio. The new codec, called HDC, was developed jointly with strategic
partner Coding Technologies. HDC has been customized for the demands of
terrestrial IBOC AM and FM. Part of HDC is Coding TechnologiesSpectral Band
Replication (SBR), which was designed to enable high audio quality at
extremely low bit-rates.
