Re: Stereo for voice (was RE: Dr. Laura anywhere in New England?)
Peter pondered:
>> Why don't stations like WVOM, WTKK, WBUR and others on the FM dial that
program mostly talk programming switch off the stereo generator for those voice-
only (stereo-irrelevant) programs? (snip)<<
i've noticed it on 'TKK especially. in the previous incarnation of 96.9 as a
music station, the signal was listenable up to almost Exit 2 in York along the
Maine pike. now, as a talker, the reception goes south just north of 495 in MA.
technical issues notwithstanding, attempted levity inserted here:
maybe it's to allow perceived two-faced talk hosts to talk out of both sides at
the same time, or to be simultaneously intepreted as both left- and right-
leaning? ;-)
and how does one re-light the stereo pilot if a good, stiff wind (like Rush or
someone) blows it out? ;-)
