Re: When did they move to their current TX location...?

Yes, Channel 56's transmitter was located atop Zion
Hill in Woburn ever since the day it signed-on in 1953
as WTAO-TV. 'TAO left the air in 1956. When WKBG
signed-on, in 1966, they used the same antenna as WTAO
did for the first two years under Kaiser/Globe
ownership. In October, 1968, WKBG's new "1,000,000
watt tall-tower of power" (aka-The Stainless stick)
burst on the scene with a killer signal that people
wanted. WSBK/38, WREP/25 and WKBG/56 were to be a
co-operative effort to bring UHF to thousands of new
Boston market viewers. Even WJZB-TV/14 was to be a
part of the equation as well. Channel 14 was never to
be a Boston station. It almost did! WREP-TV/Channel
25's stick on the tower lay dormant until October,
1977 when WXNE-TV signed-on.

As for "TV/38...is all fun and games", that was their
Summer 1973 promotion that they used for a couple of
years with the late Werner Klemperer ("Hogan's
Heroes") doing the promos. Both the late John Banner
and the late Bob Crane (both from "Hogan's Horoes")
did TV/38's previous promotional logo "TV/38 is a
Great Escape!" ("Hogan's Heroes" was new to TV/38 that
season and stayed on their schedule for over 25
years!) John Banner died less than 4 months after
taping those 1972 promos.

Ah, yes! The Stooges and Willie Whistle. Willie
(Dick Beach) was seen on both WIHS-TV and then
WSBK-TV. How I miss, TV/38!
