1) why is he 'reminding' viewers to remember that the woman was assisted
by the FDNY?

2) how does he know for certain that the newborn would not have made it
without help from the FDNY?

No knocks against the FDNY here...sounds like they did a helluva job,
but the anchor didn't. What happened to just concluding the piece by
saying, "that's nice," or "what a remarkable story," or something that
wasn't a political exhortation? 
Better yet---and I think this question is relevant to much of TV
news---is what's happened to just reporting the news? When anchors think
the set's a bully pulpit, it makes the whole biz look bad.
