Spencer Hughes, of 'RKO's weekend show "Studio 680",
was on today. He mentioned the firing at the beginning
("a business decision") and said, as the
Herald did, that "they were offered one final show
but turned it down". Hughes added that it's rare
that a PD will offer someone a final show when
firing someone; a chance to say goodbye. (It's
possible that program directors who do so risk
having the hosts slam the station on air--
though word of that would be dangerous to one's
reputation should the host try to get hired
elsewhere.)
