That's right--I could see him thanking the people he
worked with and the Academy and then MAYBE a quick
jab at Bush or the war (a good joke or something).
But he seemingly couldn't wait to get up there and do
his routine, expecting the audience to cheer him.
I heard the clip a few times--there's some applause
at the start, a couple laughs--but then loud boos.
Afterwards, he was quoted as saying "five people
booed me". Huh? He was indeed taking advantage of
the platform. And it wasn't the time or place.

I don't remember the President stopping his speech
outlining the beginning of the war to say, "And
now here are my Oscar picks" :)

Well, can't win 'em all! But you're right,
good to see some upsets...

It was a neighbor (a couple houses away). He left a
business card (he's a carpenter) on my windshield
and I was almost gonna throw it away when I read the
back: "I hit your car backing out driveway--John.
Call me." (and phone # on front) At least he was
honest!

Well it should be OK--fixing it next week, and it'll
be fun to drive a fairly new rental car--it should
take 3-4 days to fix.

Thanks for info on Kelly's Landing. I would have
invited you to come along but a)I wasn't sure I was
going till just before I left; i.e., still debating
whether or not to go...b) I figured you wanted to rest
up for Oscar Night, and c) you would have also been
disappointed to see Morgan wasn't there :)

Very true

But because this no-nothing is a

Actually he's NOT a student! He's a guy in his 50s;
has wife and family; is an electrician in Medford.

Yeah, hope to see you some Saturday evening! I think
Joe and I might go "halfsies" on that Beatles
Anthology 5-DVD set (supposed to be $80 but amazon.com
has it for $60...so $30 a pop...)
