RE: Cumulus drops Chicks
My wife is a Country Music fan (I am not) and is not going to ever buy a
Dixie Chicks album again.
At the risk of stereotyping, if I'm a Country music artist, what political
bent will the clear majority of my fans have? Conservative! Whether the
Dixie Chick that spoke up feels the need to vent or not, the fact remains
that of all the musical genres, taking the (at least perceived) anti
Conserviative, anti Patriotic view is bad marketing.
In Rock, the opposite tends to be true, politically. I don't recall Ted
Nugent spouting off his political views during his heyday. Rock artists that
are conservative are about as popular as Country artists that are liberal.
If you want to spout off your political views, then choose a different
career path than entertainment, IMHO.
