I am now watching coverage of the disaster on Ch. 4.
The total of fatalities is now estimated to be 60,
and many of those injured have suffered burns over
much of their bodies. They were talking to someone at
WHJY; that station is having to cope with the news
that their air personality "the Doctor", who was there
to emcee the show, is still among the
missing.

The footage shown on TV shows how amazingly fast the
fire spread. It's said that many of the survivors got
out because they made it to side doors; but many of
the concertgoers rushed toward the front
entrance/exit, the only one they definitely knew of,
and that probably led to much of the fatalities
and injuries.

The pyrotechnics is probably the cause of the fire
(plus the material that caught on fire was flammable).
I have seen fireworks in an indoor location before--
like at the SkyDome (with the roof closed)-- a small
eruption of fireworks when a home run was hit,
for example. But the roof of that place is quite high
up. This club seemed to have a roof of only 8 feet
high or so...perhaps as many as 300 people crammed
into a small nightclub. And when the foam padding
behind the stage caught on fire, then spread
quickly, the results were horrifying.
