"Good Morning!" (Re: New England Network)

In 1974, the New England Network consisted of the
following...

WJAR-TV (10) Providence, RI
WCVB-TV (5) Boston
WMTW-TV (8) Poland Spring, ME
WEZF-TV (22) Burlington, VT
WABI-TV (5) Bangor, ME
WAGM-TV (8) Presque Isle, ME

WMTW was the pivot point for the Northern
affiliates due to its' former super signal from Mt.
Washington (it still hurts thinking about that....).
WMTW got a direct off air signal from WCVB, as did
WJAR. WEZF and WABI received "Good Morning" via WMTW.
WAGM got an off air signal from WABI. One would
wonder how the signal to Presque Isle would look after
going through three or four "hops". WJAR was an early
retirement from the Network as most people watched
"Good Morning" from WCVB. I was surprised either
WHYN(40) or WWLP(22) did not go for "Good Morning", or
WTEN(10) and WCDC(19) for that matter. The New
England Network lasted until 1976 when "Good Day!"
went nationally syndicated for one season in a
half-hour strip (1976-1977). WPIX(11) in New York was
one of the stations that carried it. WMTW dumped out
and naturally, all of the stations in the north that
depended on WMTW had to dump out too. SO there was
the New England Network!

BTW: WMTW did carry "Good Morning, Sunday!", for one
year as well in 1974-75. It was a one hour Sunday
noontime show with highlights from the last week's
shows. I don't know if 'EZF, 'ABI or 'AGM carried it
as well.
