actually it's Wallace himself that is itching to own WCAP and if MC would
sell he could legally purchase it now since as you stated it's MediaNews
that actually owns The Lowell Sun, and as you correctly point out it also
owns all the weekly's between Lowell and Fitchburg and owns the Fitchburg
daily as well.  Wallace will be in charge until he retires so if he can
acquire the only other media outlet still serving its COL he will be the
only force to recon with when it comes to everything from politics to ad
rates to policy making.....deal with me or be ignored.....he's done it
before.
