Call letters on "American Dreams"
I've been watching the new show "American Dreams" on NBC, which is set in 1963
Philadelphia, where a couple of the teenagers are regulars on "American Bandstand." The
cameras, probably authentically, bear the call letters "WFIL-TV." At the time, Bandstand
was on ABC, which means that the Philadelphia station from which it originated must have
been an ABC affiliate. The program is now on NBC. Now, here's my question. Is there a
WFIL-TV in Philadelphia today? And if so, is it an NBC affiliate? I would imagine that if this
show were on a station in Philadelphia which competes with WFIL-TV, the NBC affiliate in
Philadelphia would be quite unhappy about that.
Which reminds me, I was also surprised, watching the Election Night episode on "The West
Wing" on NBC to hear a TV proclaim that =CBS=
had just called Delaware for President Bartlet.
