No, at the risk of being spoken to from GW again, you pointed out  "But
in America, representative democracy still exists".
I just wanted to point out that after the voters of Mr. Ashcroft's state
rewarded his years of service on Capital Hill by ousting him from office
and electing a dead man (they knew something we don't?) he was APPOINTED
to the position he now holds and is key to deciding whether the United
States of America remains unique to the world or slips toward depravation
of individual rights.
