That would be the flaw in the system. I don't think today's "music"
radio stations would activate the EAS and interrupt their programming.
It might occur the first few times the Amber Alert system was activated,
but I don't see programmers allowing it to happen beyond the initial
"good will" press coverage they will get.
The National Weather Services requests EAS activiation a number of times
throughout the summer for severe weather, they seldom get it, the best
they will get is some jock reading that a severe thunderstorm is moving
through the area....That's all that is really necessary but the fact that
the EAS is requested and programmers don't activate it indicates to me
that it is unlikely EAS would be used by most "music" stations beyond the
initial startup phase, or for that matter even public stations (there are
programs on the air we are forbidden to interrupt)
