That's what Microsoft would like you to believe. There are millions of
people out there running Mac's as general PC's. They are quite good at any
number of tasks, depending on the software that is installed. And despite
the rumors, there is not a shortage of available Mac software. There are
over 30,000 current titles of Mac software available.
What Microsoft has done is to spawn a generation of computer "experts" who
only know one system. Kinda like a language expert who only knows
English. Of course, such a person is not going to promote something which
would disturb his complacency.
You may notice that I am posting this from a computer running Windows NT
. That's because it's what the company has chosen to use in Master
Control. But, there are a number of Mac's running on the station's LAN,
and there have been no problems integrating them with the network. All
Mac's have built in Ethernet, And it's just a matter of installing the
Novel client for Mac to make them talk to the rest of the network. Same as
they have to do on the cheaper Windows machines, to which they also have to
add NIC cards and install the appropriate drivers.
That may be what it comes down to. Windows is cheaper, but it may be a
case of you get whatcha pay for. Kinda like analog vs digital TV. How's
that for getting back on topic? :-)
