It isn't uncommon for large corporations to register
potentially defamatory URLs, or potentially profitable URLs
either (e.g., Proctor & Gamble) to keep them out of other's
hands. 

There is an article on Clear Channel and voice tracking on
Wired today:

Though the bulk of the article isn't anything that most on
this list aren't already familiar with, it's worth reading
