WMUA at UMass has mostly students on the air, though there are a few others. Most of the
non-students are alums who remained in or returned to the area. There may be a few others.
I believe there is at least one professor, who is also a faculty advisor to the station. They
rely especially on the non-students in the area to keep the station on the air during the
summer and other college vacations. Back in the 1960s, when I was a student, the station
would go off the air during school vacations. In fact, it was while I was there that the station
first tried to be on during the summer.
