RE: boston-radio-interest-digest V5 #179
Although in some places in Boston and Brookline WRBB gets blown away by
WBOQ
less than two miles from their transmitter, WRBB has been known to come in
quite listenably over WBOQ in some freaky unexpected spots in the suburbs,
particularly if you're on high ground facing Boston with a hill or other
shadow to the north.
I've also heard WRBB in that Belmont area, as well as in spots in Waltham,
Arlington, Medford, etc... At my apartment here in Somerville on a the
south side of a Boston-facing slope, I get WRBB quite well, though I can
reposition the antenna for WBOQ.
I recall back when WBOQ was formerly Simon Geller's weak, mono WVCA, it
really
didn't quite make it down here even when WRBB was off, and WRBB's little
signal came in most everywhere within the 128 belt on a good receiver.
