RE: speaking of CKLW
Yes, the really sensationalized the news presentation. I have many clips of
it on tape that I swiped from the Big 8 CKLW Webpage tribute.
The little boy run over by a rig story was really something. Too much
information!
I wasn't able to get audio from the site the past week... I got the audio
about 4 years ago... of 70s newscasts. A husband who clubbed his wife to
death went something like "... and then he pullout his Genuine Willie Mays
Louisville Slugger and proceeded to bat a thousand on her head" and then
somewhere in there mentioned that his batting could be used by the Tigers...
just unreal stuff. A floater in the (Detroit?) River found by kids
fishing... "the kids caught more than just supper.... and then audio of a
young girl about 10 years old describing the victim... I'd have to refresh
my memory but the facts were _highly_ sensationalized. Mighty insensitive of
the vicims. Then there's the clip where the say Prime Minister Trudeau was
called an ass***e by President Nixon... word not deleted/beeped on the
newscast. I haven't heard of many stations being that brazen with their
newscasts back in the 70s...
