Re: Doc Laura

C-Net, which was supposed to disappear from 890 on 7/1,
is now supposed to disappear on 8/5. The C-Net East
Coast Morning Show with David Lawrence _did_ disappear
on 7/1. And the C-Net personalities no longer mention
Boston. However, the promos that were recorded before
the format began here on December 1, 2001 are still
running. For a short while in June, C-Net ran a few
spots with Boston content. Those spots died on 7/1.

Based on what I've read about the lineup, the new 890
format sounds to me like the turkey of all turkeys, with
the possible exception of Michael Savage. I can't listen
to the man (I've tried); he makes me crazy, but I think
he's been pulling decent numbers in quite a few markets
and he _can_ be heard now in the northern parts of the
Boston market on WCAP. The fact that a lot of people
would listen to such a guy is _really_ worrisome. Even
if you include Art Bell, Savage is surely the most over-
the-top talk host heard on major stations in large
markets. WBPS isn't and won't be a major station, but I
believe that Savage is on WABC.
