RE: V66 (WVJV-TV)



HSN (Home Shopping Network) made John G. an "offer he couldn't refuse" and
the station was sold. I don't recall the $$ figure. They would continue to
operate Ch 66 as WHSH-TV with 24/7 Home Shopping until the USA Network's
short lived WHUB "Hub 66" station in 2001. Since Jan 2002, WUTF is
"Telefutura", Univision's second US TV network, co-owned with WUNI Ch 27
Worcester.

I believe V-66 could probably have lasted only a couple of years anyway, as
most all of Boston was wired by the late 1980's for cable (Wasn't the Back
Bay the last neighborhood to get Cable, around 1990?). Once all of the city
was wired, V-66 would not have been a viable option IMHO. I believe John G.
knew exactly that and that's why he sold when he did...again IMHO.
