Jack Buck has passed away
Heard about this during the Red Sox game tonight, and
also it's on CBS Sportsline.com: Legendary sports
announcer Jack Buck has died at 77. Buck started
calling Cardinals games in 1954 (teamed with the
late Harry Caray) and has done World Series and
Super Bowl games.
Buck's son Joe, who does baseball for Fox-TV, said,
"He had a great life. He didn't waste one minute of
one day. He did everything he could. He packed two
lifetimes into one lifetime."
Buck, a native of Holyoke, is a member of both
the broadcasters' and baseball Halls of Fame. Now
his memorable voice has been silenced.
