Haverhill Stadium Press Box to Be Named For Bill Pike
The Haverhill MA Stadium Commission is planning to renovate the Haverhill
Stadium press box and will name it "Pike's Peak" to honor the memory of Bill
Pike, who called over 20 years of Haverhill High School football games on
WHAV(1490). Pike ,who left WHAV in 1986 to serve on Haverhill's City Council
until his unexpected death on March 10, also remained a supporter of
Haverhill High School sports after his broadcasting days.
The press box will need to be renovated before it can be dedicated in
Pike's honor. It's estimated that the cost will be between $10,000 and
$12,000. No taxpayer money will be used, city officials say that a grant or
funds raised through a special event will be used to pay for the work.
